Cad Drawing for Set Design and Film Construction

We regularly use CAD drawing for film and TV work, especially when prop making or model making.
Not only is it more accurate than manually cutting wood and plastics, it is often much cheaper.
Laser cutting props and models is very effective when using acrylic or steel as it gives you perfect finished edges.
CNC routing is more suited to MDF above 6mm as the machine time is cheaper and lasers tend to burn thicker wood pieces.
CNC wire cutting is very useful for intricate polystyrene pieces like lettering.
Any of these methods is ideal when cutting component parts of larger projects where they need to fit together perfectly.
The tolerances for these machines are excellent and you can have confidences that everything will turn up exactly as it was drawn
